THE FIRST PINK LION CHILDREN’S MUSIC FESTIVAL

FESTIVAL GOAL – We aim at giving children, who are interested in music and wish to express themselves as singers and instrumentalists another chance to take the stage. We also wish to involve their parents and family members in their music performance.

It is also important for us to give the chance to new and easy to remember children’s songs. Special attention is going to be paid to songwriting teachers.

I. CATEGORIES

1. SINGERS

А/ Kind of performance

- solo

- duet of a child with an adult family member of his/hers /mother, father, grandmother, grandfather, a sibling older than 18 years old/

- from 4 to 7 years old/up to April 1, 2010/

2. INSTRUMENTALISTS

А/ Performers

- Children who study music at after school music schools and with private teachers

- Children who study at music schools

Б/ Age groups for the solo singers

- from 4 to 7 years old/up to April 1, 2010/

- from 8 to 11 years old/up to April 1, 2010/

3. SONGWRITERS OF CHILDREN’S SONGS

А/ Songwriting children

- up to 12 years old/up to April 1, 2010/

- from 13 to 18 years old/up to April 1, 2010/

Б/ Songwriting teachers

II. REGULATIONS

1. A casting is going to be held to set the number of participants.

2. All candidates, singers and instrumentalists have to send a demo on a CD, DVD, mp3, by e-mail, Skype or to show a link to a video clip.

3. All candidates for the songwriting competition have to send their song in advance on a CD or DVD and the lyrics in a separate file.

4. All singers/solo and duets/ sing 2 children’s songs – the first included in their country music curriculum and the second – by choice. Total song duration - 8 minutes. Accompaniment has to be on a sound recorder or live.

5. All instrumentalists perform 2 pieces – the first written by a country composer and the second – by choice. Total performance duration - 8 minutes.

6. The deadline for sending all demos and other pieces is April 15, 2010.

All admitted participants are going to be informed by e-mail.

IV. AWARDS

Four participants in each category and each age group are going to be awarded. All awarded children are going to participate in the final concert. The best singers/solo or duet/ and the best new children’s song are going to be awarded the special Pink Lion Prize. All participants are going to be awarded certificates of achievement.

V. FEES

Festival fee for each participant is 20 lv. The fee is the same for each duet as a whole. Fees should be bank transferred after receiving confirmation of the participation. The first, middle and family name, the category and the age of the participant should be written in the bank transfer papers.

V. OTHER TERMS

1. Travelling, accommodation and meals are at the expense of the participants. Accommodation may be provided by the organizers upon request.

2. All participants should arrange the copyrights on their own. Organizers are not responsible for copyrights that have not been arranged by the participants.

3. Organizers reserve the right to record all the performances in order to use them at the time of the festival and in future advertisements, TV and radio broadcasts without paying any copyright fees or other compensations.

4. Some concomitant events are included in the festival schedule.
